Okay, so there are very few big puffy down filled jackets that make a woman look svelte. But not all of them make you look like a squat dwarf. Don’t get me wrong, I love everything else about the new lululemon Snow Day Puffy - I love the warmth, the softness, and the coziness. But I can get all that from wrapping a big waterproof duvet around my body and still look ten pounds thinner.
Much like the Apres Yoga Jacket, the Snow Day Puffy fits big around the stomach, as though it was designed to fit a yummy mummy first and everyone else second. There’s definitely enough room in the jacket’s mid section to be with child, or to at least store a dog or a snack or a yoga mat - and this is if you pick the smallest possible size your arms can squeeze into - let alone choosing a size that actually fits the rest of you well.
The length of the coat also doesn’t help in the flattering deparment. Unless you are over 5′9″ this jacket will make you look short. And yes, I understand that the added length is intended to help keep the cold out. More body covered = more body warm. I’ve figured this much out. However, an inch or two higher or an inch or two lower would have made all the difference. This jacket is neither short nor long and it hits most people in the stumpy part of the knee. This in turn makes the stomach area bunch up even more and solidify the suspicion that you might have a bun in the oven after all.
I’ll end my rant. The jacket is very warm, and is apparently “body mapped” - meaning it’s woven extra thick in areas that are more in need of warmth, and is filled with super warm premium down fill. The whole inside of the jacket is extremely soft and cozy, and the outside is, of course, waterproof. I’m also impressed at how lightweight this jacket is, considering how warm it has kept me.
So, if you are willing to stay warm at all costs this winter, and don’t mind instantly gaining a little ponch, then the aptly named Snow Day Puffy may well be for you.
