What the Heck is Luon?

Ever wonder exactly what this infamous lululemon luon is? Luon is a nylon lycra blend that is the main performance fabric you’ll find on most lululemon products - from groove pants to shape jackets to headbands. It has a matte finish, lots of stretch, is preshrunk, and wicks moisture away from your body when you sweat. The nylon / lycra changes from year to year slightly, but is always of really high quality, and is always 86% nylon, 14% lycra.

The lululemon motto is wear hard, wash hard - and I’ve had groove pants for four years that I wear and wash often and they still haven’t pilled. Avoid putting your luon in the dryer with towels or anything that leaves fluff, as the material tends to attract lint in the dryer.

Some luon is “brushed” on the inside, which makes it much cozier than traditional luon.
